HEALTHY ACTIVE LEARNING

WHAT IS HEALTHY ACTIVE LEARNING?

Healthy Active Learning is a joint initiative between Sport New Zealand and Te Whatu Ora Healthy NZ and the Ministry of Education assisting schools and kura to improve child and youth wellbeing through healthy eating and drinking, and quality physical activity.

In Tāmaki Makaurau, Sport New Zealand invests in Aktive who partners with Sport Waitākere in West Auckland. A number of Healthy Active Learning Advisors and Community Connectors currently work across West Auckland with 20 local primary and intermediate schools.

This team promotes and encourages active and healthy school environments, supports teacher confidence and development to deliver quality health and physical education curriculum programmes, and promotes better connections between schools and their local communities that enhance physical activity experiences for tamariki.
